Patch 6.3 Gameplay Updates
Hi again everyone! Our Patch Preview just came out, and in it we discussed the details of the hottest party of the year… our 5th Anniversary! While we’re excited for all the goodies, Worlds themed AAA ARAM, and of course SMASH, we also couldn’t wait to dive more in-depth with you about the gameplay updates also coming during this update cycle.
RUNES REVAMP
One of the main gameplay updates we’re making in this patch is to Runes. It's important to us that you have more than one option when it comes to building your champions. Additionally we know there are some champions that have suboptimal runes, compared to others so we wanted to make some changes and additions that will make sure you’ve got more than one ideal setup.
NEW RUNES
With this update we’ll be adding an array of runes into the game. The first will be a brand new Keystone, Dark Harvest. If you’ve played League PC before you might be familiar with this one and we’re excited to be adding it to your loadouts. How it works is, whenever you deal damage to a champion with less than 50% health, you’ll harvest that champion’s soul, and permanently increase Dark Harvest’s overall damage. This is perfect for all you Katarina and Kha’Zix mains who like to hop in and out of the fight executing your foes before they can even blink their eyes.
We’ll also be adding the following minor runes:
Celerity, this is a new rune that will replace Pathfinder. It will increase all movement speed bonuses you gain by 7% and grant you an extra 2% movement speed as well. The team feels this will be a great pickup for Jhin or maybe even Akshan!
Axiom Arcanist is a new rune, it won’t be replacing any of our current ones. It will Increase the damage, healing, and shield of your Ultimate by 10% and whenever you participate in the kill of an enemy champion reduces the remaining cooldown of your Ultimate by 5%. We love building this item on champions like Sivir or Miss Fortune, but can’t wait to see which champions you build this on as there are a lot of fun potential builds.
Unshakeable is also a new rune that is not replacing any of our current runes. This is for all our Ornn and Poppy mains out there, we see you. Unshakeable will grant you 5% armor and magic resist. And for each enemy champion within a certain distance of you (capped at three) will increase your armor and magic resist by an additional 4%.
Chain Assault, will replace Mark of the Weak and is another great pick for our assassin enjoyers. After an active skill hits an enemy champion, it will mark the target. The next two normal attacks or active skills will have bonus 20~35 +5% bonus AD+2.5% AP bonus adaptive damage (20 second cooldown).
Last but not least, Tyrant is a new rune that is not replacing any of our other runes. When you damage an enemy champion with less than 50% health, you’ll deal 30~50+7.5% bonus AD+3.5% AP bonus adaptive damage(cooldown 20 seconds). We tested this out with Dark Harvest Katarina and we’re able to do tons of damage in testing.
In addition to Mark of the Weak and Pathfinder, we will also be removing Onslaught. Please stay tuned to our Patch Notes for the exact numbers of each of these new runes.
SUPPORT UPDATES
This patch we’re also showing some love to our Support players, and they deserve it. The amount of times a Lulu or Nami has saved my butt, or a Leona has set me up to carry the game… too many times to count. Speaking of Leona, our changes to Support this patch are targeted towards our more tanky friends in the Dragon Lane.
We’ll be introducing a new item, Radiant Virtue:
- Build Path: Kindlegem + Chain Vest (Total Cost: 2850)
- Stats:
- 300 Health
- 45 Armor
- 15 Ability Haste
- Stats:
- Guiding Light: Upon casting your ultimate, you transcend, increasing your max Health by 12.5% for 6s. While Transcendent, you and allied champions within 1200 range heal for 3% of your max Health per second over the duration. If you are a ranged champion, heals granted are reduced by 50%. (60 second cooldown)
We’re excited for those of you who play those tankier supports to try this out in your build and pair them with some of the new runes! In addition to the new item, we’ll be making some adjustments to Dawnshroud and Protector’s Vow. You can read more about the adjustments to them in our upcoming patch notes.
BOOT ENCHANTS
In Patch 6.2 we made some updates to Boot Enchantments and have been keeping a close eye on them since the update. Something that we noticed though is that since the update there are some Boot Enchantments that overlap or do similar things, so this patch we’re going to simplify the system by trimming the list of options and then rebalancing the ones that remain. This will make it so that each Enchantment shines for the moment it’s meant for, and it feels more impactful to build them. We’ll be removing four enchants and then we will also be reworking the Veil Enchantment. The full details about these removals and Veil’s update will be in our upcoming patch notes.
DECKED IN GLORY
That’s all from us for now, but be sure to stay tuned for the Patch Notes for the full list of changes and numbers! As always, once Patch 6.3 launches, please send us your feedback and hype clips, we’ll see ya on the Rift!
